It is hardly necessary to say that the attempt failed. Such attempts always fail. It failed on this occasion signally, and Trow, with two other men, were condemned to be scourged terribly, and then kept in solitary confinement for some lengthened term of months.

    An excellent book with events that are as probable today as they were in the setting of the book (I.e the 1800s). I see the same character assassination happening today as happened to the warden - the failings of mankind remain regardless of the age. This book is well worth reading for anyone who searches for a better understanding of the better and the worst qualities of mankind. For the thoughtful person, you will find this book to bea gem! JAD, November 2020.
