Book Description HTML

This sequel to Eight Cousins follows Rose as she returns to Aunt Hill after traveling and tries to establish herself as an independent young woman.  The story begins when Rose comes back from a long trip to Europe. Everyone is well altered and as a joke, when she arrives home, she lines up her seven cousins to take a long look at them, just as they did to her when they first met. Rose Campbell, the heroine of the story, is sweet, kind, pretty, and ambitious. She is an heiress just come of age, and struggles with the many suitors she attracts by learning to judge love versus those who regard her only as "a good match."

Enjoyed reading it. The severity of the weather and the perils faced by the expedition to the Arctic pole is vividly depicted. The Total commitment and The sense of duty of the commanding sailor At sea and the nurse on land appeal to the senses. A highly poetic way of writing. Vijayan.

Powerful beginning describing arctic exploration. Morphs into a convoluted romance. Great peek into fiction writing and bestsellers from a century ago.
