I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. Just couldn't put it down. Very well written. Nice to read a gay book without lurid sex.

Thank you, what an incredible story covering such a diverse range as the bravery to change your career mid-stream; loving, breaking up & making up. Being willing to go out on a limb for someone you beleive wont let you down. Nurturing young people, being sware of life's pitfalls and carefully guiding they through.I loved this book, the writing is, as Neil says, so compelling it was a struggle between turning the pages quickly to discover more and turning them slowly to drag out the ending.Exremely well written Alan, I hope to find more of this genre in the near future.Patricia

I am loving this book. Yes, I am a gay man, however I really don't think that the basic feelings and human relationships portrayed here have anything to do with sexuality - they can be transposed onto any relationship. Only once or twice, while reading a book, do I try and turn the pages as slowly as possible, so as not to finish it too soon. This is what I am doing with the hotel at the moment - I have about 30 pages to go, and while I am dying to know how it pans out, I really don't want to finish it and let it go, I am enjoying the experience too much.Thank you, Martin, for such an enjoyable and sensitive book, I wish you all the success you deserveNeil Aronson

Thanks for reading Goodmans Hotel, and for taking thee trouble to post on the site. My own outlook, as a gay man, is that we should all seek as best we can to be good in our lives. What constitutes a 'good life'? I think we probably we have much in common in our ideas on that. Thanks again for your comments. As a non-commercial writer, readers' views mean a great deal to me.

Homosexuality is not something that I understand but as a Christian I hope not to be bigoted. That is to say, I would condemn the practice once I'm myself perfect. It seems that the descriptions in the book are not far from descriptions of heterosexual practices. As I have no experience of the Gay lifestyle, I prefer not to condemn. The book was well written and interesting.
