Translation of the 5th document's photocopy. At the top margin of the document which is in two pages in handwriting, only at the first page, the page number 53 is written:-

Statement by Shri Shiju, Sub Inspector of Police, Hill Palace, Cochin City recorded by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kayamkulam:

During the dates 2-3-09 to 1-06-09, I had worked at the Police Station Allapuzha South, in the designation of Sub Inspector of Police. During the said period, on 18-5-09, complying the oral directions issued by the Superintendent of Police, Allapuzha District; I had contacted with the investigation of Crime No. 275 of xxx of the Police Station Harippad. The previously convicted persons for the offence of Pick-pocketing had to be examined. Following Police Personnels had been present to help me: Mr. Suresh Krishna, bearing number PC 4788, at the Police Station Allapuzha South; Mr. Joseph Stanley, bearing number PC 4534, at the Police Station Nedumudi; and Mr. Dina Dayal Vallan, bearing number PC 5010. From the date 19-5-09, the persons of the Allapuzha town, who had been previous convicts and those who were undergoing trial in the criminal cases had been examined. The informations which had been obtained by us, along with those informations, myself and above named Police Personnels had joined together on date 23-5-09, during evening time 7'o clock and Reported to Shri Ashokan Sir, the CI of Police, Harippad. What ever informations had been collected by us from the place Allapuzha had been discussed with the CI of Police, Harippad. The bag in which the Gold had been brought in the Case at the place Harippad had been torn off using scissors; the CI had given us this information. However, the informations which had been collected by us from the previously convicted persons, their technique of committing theft had been tearing off (the bag etc) using Blade, as what had been told to us. When we had gone to the office of the CI of Police, Harippad; the individual named Mr. Sreekesh had been present at the room of Hon'ble CI. The CI had instructed that, those individuals who had been accused in the Pick-pocketing cases, and got convicted; similar persons who had been released from the Jail in the recent past after completing punishment and those who had been released on Bail; it had been instructed that these persons should be thoroughly examined. I had been not given by responsibility regarding investigating the case in the crime number 275 of xxx of the Police Station Harippad. I had not questioned the above named Mr. Sureshan (sic.) or I had not caused physical torture upon the said individual. On that day, at 7.30'o pm, I had gone back to the place Allapuzha. Related to my work, only for half an hour, I had spend at the place Harippad.

Statement made by Mr. Suresh Krishna B, bearing number Police Constable 4788, of the Police Station Allapuzha South:

Since the last one year I am working at the Police Station Alapuzha South. Because the cases within the category of LP is more at the Police Station Allapuzha South, complying the directions issued by the Hon'ble SI, the duty I had been doing was the search for the accused persons in the cases of LP. At that time, complying the directions of Hon'ble SP, Allapuzha; regarding the investigation relating to Crime No-275/09 of the Police Station, Harippad; to enquire about the Pick-Pockets and other criminals at the Allapuzha Town, (Note: a team had been formed with the following personnels – Translator):, myself, PCA 5010 Dina Dayal Mallan, PC 4524 Joseph Stanli, and SI Shiji sir of the Police Station Allapuzha South. Complying the directions, since the date 19-5-2009, enquiries had been conducted regarding the accused persons in the cases of Pick-Pocket cases at Allapuzha Town, and after that a Report had been given to SI Shiji sir. Along with the informations which had been procured by conducting investigations at Allapuzha, along with SI Shiji sir, we four persons had reported on date 23-5-09 at evening time 7.00'o clock, to Shri Ashok Sir, the CI of the place Harippad. At that time Mr. Sreekesh had been standing in the room of the CI. The SI Shiji sir had told the informations which we had received from Allapuzha to the CI. Ordinarily the Pick-pockets do use Blades to tear off the bags, and they do not use scissors, it had been told to him. After that by 7.30'o clock we had returned back to Allapuzha. I had never been given any responsibility regarding the investigation regarding the case Crime No-275/09 of the Police Station, Harippad. I had not questioned Mr. Sreekesh or I had not caused physical torture upon the said individual. Related to that work, only for half an hour, I had spend at the place Harippad. Now PC 4524 is on leave for the period of 5 years.

Statement made by (Police Constable) Mr. Dina Dayal Mallan, bearing number PC A 5010, at the Police Station Nedumudi; to the Dy SP, Kayamkulam:-

I am working at the Police Station Nedumudi since the last one year. While I had been doing the duty of Process Service at the Police Station North, I had gained the experience of knowing the criminals, thus complying the directions issued by Superintendent of Police, Allapuzha District, given on date 18-5-09; I got in touch with the Crime No. 275 of 2009 of the Police Station Harippad. To enquire about the Pick-pockets and other criminals at the Allapuzha Town, I had been “passed over” to the Allapuzha South Police Station (Note: at the first page of the Statement, at the 12th line, the last word could not be understood being one alphabet did not come in the photocopy, which had been presumed and read as “passed over”, it's meaning may be “temporary transfer” - Translator). At that place, following persons had been send to do duty with me: Mr. Shiju, working in the designation of Sub-Inspector at the Police Station South; PC 4788 Suresh Krishna and PC 4534 Joseph Stanley. Complying the directions, since the date 19-5-09 the inquiries regarding the accused persons in the cases of Pick-Pocket at the Allapuzha town had been conducted and the report regarding the said Inquiry had been given to SI Shiju Sir. Along with the Investigation Report which had been prepared by conducting investigation at Allapuzha, along with SI Shiju Sir; we four had Reported before Shri Ashokan Sir, who is CI of the place Harippad, on date 23-5-09 at 7'o clock. At that time Mr. Sreekesh had been standing in the room of the CI. The informations which had been obtained by us after conducting enquiry at Allapuzha had been told to the CI, by SI Shiju Sir. (The said information is:) Normally the Pick-pocketing accused persons do tear off the Bags using Blades and not by using Scissors. After that by 7.30 pm, we had gone back to the place Alapuzha. I had been not given any responsibility regarding the investigation of the case of Crime No. 275 of 2009 of the Police Station Harippad. I had not questioned Mr. Sreekesh and I had not done physical torture to him. In connection with this case, I had spend only half an hour.
