Yosef Ben-Jochannan, a.k.a Dr. Ben, was an Afrocentric historian whose work was focused mainly on the Afrikan origins of ancient Kemet (Egypt). Dr. Ben was born as an only child to an Ethiopian father and an Afro-Puerto Rican Jewish mother in Ethiopia's so- called "Falasha" community. He attended schools in Brazil, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Cuba and earned degrees in engineering and anthropology. He continued his education at the University of Havana, Cuba, where he earned a Master's degree in architectural engineering. He earned a doctoral degree in cultural anthropology from the same school. Finally, he attended the University of Barcelona, where he earned another doctoral degree in Moorish history. As you can see, Dr. Ben is one of the most studied and accomplished Afrocentric historians to date.
Out of all the Grandmaster Teachers I'll be highlighting in this Ebook, none had as much influence on my personal growth as Dr. Ben and his fearless, unapologetic will to speak truth to power using the people's language. Dr. Ben wrote something close to 49 books, such as "Black Man of the Nile" and "African Origins of Western Religions." The subject of most of his books is the ancient civilizations of the Nile Valley.
He also wrote and co-wrote elementary and secondary school texts in the 1960s. He was the chair of the publishing house Alkebu-Lan Foundation and its subsidiary, Alkebu-Lan Books and Education Materials Associates.
