Quite sadly, it seems that the worship of Bast was officially banned by some disrespectful imperial decree around 390 A.D. (“After the era of the Domination of the cats.”). Things like that always happen with humans. One day you’re in, and the next day you’re out. Demigod today, and just an average kitty tomorrow. Unfortunately, they are a very changeable species at times, without a doubt.
Well, the worship of Bast was officially banned by some disrespectful imperial decree. Poor Bast was then formally and sadly considered as a divine has-been by the Egyptians who once had put her up on a pedestal. But... Bast was never ever forgotten by us felines.
Our very respected and honorable cat goddess of the sun and so much more will always be in our thoughts and prayers. She provides us with a positive example of what it is to be noble, kind, and caring, and gives us hope for a better future. She is our true heavenly leader, and from a broader perspective, maybe our best eternal friend. She gives us cats the example to follow, and we are thankful for that. In Bast we trust.
