The collaborators involved in the agriculture cohort consortium are mostly from the northern hemisphere, but the group is trying to recruit collaborators in Latin America.

In terms of the environment, epidemiology is a very blunt tool—researchers are unable to

calibrate the tools available to study environmental anomalies such as cancer clusters. The

current paradigm for risk identification and prevention is not adequate to protect public

health. Many successful examples of the precautionary principle can be seen in other

countries; the U.S. needs to follow suit and redevelop its approach toward chemical testing

and setting policy.
