The Bible …
A tale of shepherd kings and thrones,
Of crestfallen faces and drying bones,
A prophet poised at the edge of a precipice,
Proclaiming calm and declaring peace.
A narrative of winged beings bringing news,
Of salvation appearing to gentiles and Jews
Virgin born and clad in human skin,
God on earth to liberate humanity.
All designed to serve as signposts to the Son,
A light glistening brighter than the sun,
Rising with healing in his wings,
Making sinners saints and paupers kings.
I remember the days of
sweet communion,
Of fellowship and quiet
Devotion;
Feasting fat on the bounty of
Eden,
Feeding from dawn to the
crack of Even,
Adam racing with gazelles
and chatting with bees
Naming all the creatures by
the Father’s will
Till the seducer came closer,
seeking to destroy
Bloodlust in his eyes, to kill
and steal was his ploy
Led astray, persuaded not by
the word,
Man from Abel to
Zacchaeus lived life like
frauds,
Self effort and vainglory
were all for naught,
And all had souls suffering
drought
Till a lion’s roar at Calvary,
Came - shattering sin, setting
captives free!
For Jesus crushed the
serpent’s head,
By the power of the blood
that was shed!
Ascending into heaven as
KING and LORD,
Highly exalted as declared in
the word,
Second Adam birthed
according to the promise,
Given unto us that we might
be sons.
And so NOW are we the sons of God,
With access forever, we are led by His word!
We bring sweet praise to our
King and Ruler,
Hear us roar for we are OF
the Lion of Judah.
