CHAPTER 21

THE PROMISED LAND

BUT THIS SHALL BE THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAITH THE LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS, AND WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

AND THEY SHALL TEACH NO MORE EVERY MAN HIS NEIGHBOUR, AND EVERY MAN HIS BROTHER, SAYING, KNOW THE LORD: FOR THEY SHALL ALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM UNTO THE GREATEST OF THEM, SAITH THE LORD: FOR I WILL FORGIVE THEIR INIQUITY, AND I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SIN NO MORE.

JEREMIAH  31:33-34

I believe that during the thousand years reign of Jesus Christ, all peoples will be memorizing and speaking and singing the scriptures from the day they are able to talk.  Mothers and fathers will be singing scripture verses to their babies in their cribs.  Grandmothers and Grandfathers will be reading scripture verses to their grandchildren.  God’s people will live as long as trees. See Isaiah 65:22. Visions and dreams will be common place. Angels and celestial human beings will be interacting with mankind on a regular basis. Everyone will have an intimate relationship with God. Everyone will be Walking in the Spirit. However, we don’t have to wait until the millennial reign to experience a close walk with Jesus Christ. We can start walking with God right now.

WALKING IN THE SPIRIT = WALKING IN THE BLESSING

If you Walk in the Spirit for any length of time, you cannot help but experience the blessing of God, any more than you can jump in a lake and not experience being wet.  When you completely trust in God’s Word, when you Walk in the Spirit, you will be completely surrounded by God and His blessing just like you are completely surrounded by water when you dive into a lake.

I WILL DWELL IN THEM, AND WALK IN THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

2 CORINTHIANS 6:16

I believe the Apostle Paul was attempting to explain to the Corinthians that the promises God made to the prophets of Israel were available to them immediately, they did not have to wait for some future far away millennial reign of Jesus Christ. If Jesus Christ reigns in our hearts, we can have God’s blessing right away. God has always wanted intimacy with mankind; however, because of sin there has been a great gulf between God and mankind. Before Adam ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he was perfectly intimate with God. Adam understood and trusted in God’s love just as surely as any child understands and trusts in their parents love.

I remember the struggles I went through after I became a Christian. If I sinned, I would stop praying and stop reading my Bible. My fellowship with God would suffer because my sins made me afraid to approach God. However, that was a terrible mistake. When we sin, we need to do exactly the opposite and spend more time with God. We need to understand that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was perfectly sufficient. We can boldly approach our Father in heaven whether we sin or not.
