CHAPTER 30

MEDITATION = MEMORIZATION

At the end of each week, I highlight the verse I have memorized either with a colored highlighter or with a pencil or pen. Then I turn to the front of my Bible and write the verse down on the blank pages in the front of my Bible. Then I start memorizing the next verse using the same technique. Each week, look at the verse(s) you have written down at the front of your Bible and try to speak them out loud from memory. If you forget a verse, turn to the verse in your Bible and read it out loud again. Over time, you will be amazed at how many verses you will have memorized.

All memorization is simply repetition, repetition, and more repetition! If you follow these instructions, you will gradually build up a large repertoire of Bible verses in your memory bank. I call it a memory bank because the Word of God you have memorized is more valuable than silver and gold. The Word of God you have memorized is better than money in the bank! Go for walks and speak the Word of God to yourself.

MEDITATE ON YOUR MEMORY VERSE

MEDITATE - 1897. haw-gaw’: a prime root; to murmur (in pleasure or anger); by implication to ponder: - imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, X sore, speak, study, talk, utter. (The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, James Strong, LL.D., S.T.D., Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1984.)

As you meditate on each verse, emphasize speaking different words as you memorize the verse. Think about each word and what it means. Look in your Strong’s Concordance and find the word in different verses of the Bible and see how it was used. Meditation has been compared to looking at a precious stone from different angles and seeing how the light reflects and shines off of each facet.

I assure you, if you are faithful in your memorization, meditation and speaking of Holy Scripture, you will receive great revelation from the Holy Spirit. Eventually, you shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. See Psalms 1:3. I believe if you even study and speak the Word of God on an irregular basis it will pay huge dividends, but if you study on a daily basis I believe miraculous events and blessings will shower down upon you from heaven.
