YOUR BEAUTY GONE

Now into the night wind
Do I cast this song
Of my heart so sadly finding
Your beauty gone.
Fate’s flaming brand ignites
This solitary pyre and makes only ashes

Of my heart’s futile desire.
And as the night wind commands
The flames their destiny fulfill
Alone with a haunting question
My soul watches from the hill
And dares to ask of Nature’s inscrutable will

Why I must know this pain my heart feels

Which demands I abandon my lost desire

And join my love on the flames of its pyre.
