THE EIGHT OF CUPS
“The Lord of Abandoned Success”
Saturn in Pisces
DESCRIPTION AND SYMBOLISM
Against a darkening sky, a lone traveler turns his back on all he has accumulated or accomplished before and sets out on a solitary journey as he climbs upwards out of a remote inland shoal whose shallow waters flow among strange mountainous rock formations. His back is towards us as he begins his upwards climb and he is clothed in a red cape and boots. In his right hand he holds a walking stick to assist him on his journey through this barren and difficult terrain. Eight cups stand to his rear, five in a bottom row and three sitting atop them, all of which appear to be empty. The eerie scene is lit by the light of a strange combination of the sun and the moon. A somber face on the combined orb stares down at the solitary pilgrim in an attitude of indifference to his plight.
ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION
Saturn acting within the emotional waters of Pisces brings the suffering of self undoing to all those who are fated to be held in its remorseless grasp. All that which has become devoid of meaning must be undone and left behind so that the process of spiritual regeneration may move forward even if one must abandon previous successes and set off on an uncertain and perhaps more difficult path.
ORACLES
When Appearing Upright in a Reading
An atmosphere of disillusionment has set in and you are considering abandoning all that you previously have considered important in order to set out on a different path in search of a more meaningful way of life. Dwelling on previous successes only brings restlessness and unhappiness as they no longer bring any emotional satisfaction. Stagnation, apathy and disillusionment could overcome you unless you can summon the courage to walk away from your present discontent.
When Appearing Reversed in a Reading
Your interest in success is starting to reborn and you need to actively pursue a more meaningful way of life. As your new day dawns you need to remain aware that sacrifices may be required to insure a meaningful path ahead. Beware of making errors in judgment that could put you right back at the place where you started out from.
THE TREE OF LIFE
“The Sphere of Splendor”
A symbiosis between intellect and emotion is the prerequisite for discovering the right path to spiritual attainment – a path of progress, improvement and success. Out of this joining emerges the realization that what might seem to be a dead end may actually be the gateway to a life dedicated to higher pursuits. We must seek out the spiritual dimension of reality and acknowledge it as a natural part of our being so that it will be able to fulfill its splendorous role in our lives.
