THE THREE OF SWORDS

“The Lord of Sorrow”

Saturn in Libra

DESCRIPTION AND SYMBOLISM

A heart pierced by three swords stands suspended against a grey and stormy sky. Rain is falling in grim torrents relentlessly pounding the heart as it lies caught within the fury of an emotional storm.

ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Heavy and sorrow laden Saturn clouds the heart and disrupts the balanced energy of Libra as the rational mind inflicts a grievous wound upon the emotional self unleashing an inner turmoil that threatens to consume us as our emotions turn dark and stormy and we suffer from a clouded perception and an inner loss of balance, harmony and stability.

ORACLES

When Appearing Upright in a Reading

Sorrow, loss, hardship and pain are upon you. Bitter disappointments and painful perceptions are bringing a heavy burden of sadness and tears to your heart. Like all emotional storms this one will eventually pass away but for the moment you will have to bear your suffering with as much dignity and courage as you can discover within your self. When your heart finally emerges from this darkness a new chance for happiness will await you.

When Appearing Reversed in a Reading

You will experience confusion, sorrow and pain born out of the misuse or neglect of your mental powers. Beware of your own self-delusions, as well as the dishonesty and flattery of others, as they will only add to your present mental burdens.

THE TREE OF LIFE

“The Sphere of Understanding”

It is the highest level of spiritual understanding to recognize that sorrow is not evil - it is the other balance on the scale of life for without sorrow there can be no joy. It too is of the Divine and always works for the good even if we have not yet acquired the wisdom to understand how and why this is so.
