Lessons for Crisis
6. You can make do with a lot less than you think.
When in trouble, go back to the beginning. Imagine the business as a start-up. How much money did you need when the business first started? What did you really need to get those first customers? What was really necessary? You didn’t have millions for advertising. You didn’t have millions for state-of-the art manufacturing. But somehow you found customers to buy your product or service. Go back to that time and build the business back up from a clean sheet of paper.
Task: Go back to basics. Make a list of all the things you had when you started the business. What is essential to the delivery of the product or service? What are the things that matter most to the customer? Save those and cut everything else, fast.
