10. Prepare for bugs and pests.
You can do everything right, but it is still life. Companies are living entities. They are filled with human beings who are fallible. The worst can surface at any time. Thieves, manipulation, and fraud can and do happen. Be certain to have checkers for the checkers. Try to have two separate people validate important data.
Task: Identify the critical junctures of your business: Point of Sales, Manufacturing, Logistics, Finance, etc. Wherever these “absolute certainty” spots exist, think of ways that you can have a third-party verification system. You can’t always trust quality control or auditors, because there will always be human error. Have a checker for the checker.
