The night wore on and Bobby got so tired he fell asleep sitting up. What seemed to be days later Bobby woke up. He was not used to sleeping but all his energy was gone. He felt safe with Captain Yuki and Leo with him. Seeing light through the portholes he knew it was daytime. He walked up to see where he was. Bobby expected to see only ocean and nothing else.
Captain Yuki walked up to him and said, “Do you see that land over there on the left, port side?
No way that could be. After 22+ days he was getting home. He had to think that this may not be correct. He stared a bit longer.
“Melville island?” Bobby said stunned.
“Yes it is Bobby. I radioed Melville already and said I had a passenger named Bobby McQuaid was on board. That is your name right?”
Bobby was starting to cry but trying to hold it back. “Yes. .how did you know?”
“When I called Melville I told them I had a Bobby on board that was lost on an island for a month or so. It took a few seconds before your name came up. It seems that you are wanted back at home by not only your family, but the whole island!”
Bobby couldn't stop the tears, it was hard for him to talk. Bobby was so happy but didn't know what to say. He was worried about his father and if he made it back safe. This was all in his thoughts as he got closer to home. He couldn't hold back the tears.
