Ford and the other men return after searching the house (at line 168). They have, of course, found no one; and Ford is feeling more than a little foolish. The other men intend to mock Ford: they will not let his foolish behavior pass by without some scorn and ridicule.

At the end of the scene everyone exits except Caius and Evans. They are still angry with the Host of the Garter and are plotting their own scheme of revenge against him.
