Prospero sends Ariel away to awaken the mariners on board the ship as Gonzalo and the others fully awaken. Prospero greets Alonso warmly, and the amazed king returns the dukedom of Milan back over to the possession of Prospero (line 120).

In an aside to Antonio and Sebastian, Prospero informs the traitors that he knows of their plot to assassinate Alonso. However, Prospero also tells them that he will keep their secret for now and that he even forgives his brother (lines 133-34).
