Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC)

Salary Range $77,490.00 to $119,794.00

Duties: In this position you will provide master level analysis, problem solving, and advice regarding complex program-related cybersecurity and IT issues and problems. You will identify critical infrastructure issues, collect relevant information from varied sources, and make authoritative recommendations. Typical work assignments include:

  • Assess cyber incidents and cyber vulnerabilities, threats, consequences determining impact and risk from cyber-attack to critical infrastructure
  • Prepare reports addressing multiple factors impacting cybersecurity
  • Lead and participate in departmental and cyber presentations, briefing, and forums and serve as an OCIA representative to working groups and committees
  • Manage significant cybersecurity analytic initiatives and projects within the OCIA
  • Oversee budgetary planning, acquisition, and implementation activities

Qualifications

To qualify for the Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) position you must meet the requirements as defined.

  • For the GS-12 you must have IT-related experience that includes activities such as providing written and oral analysis, production, and problem solving regarding cybersecurity and IT issues or problems. Experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies that includes:
  • assisting in the preparation of technical reports and briefs addressing factors impacting cyber security (Attention to Detail);
  • identifying, analyzing, and reporting critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, threats, consequences, and risk (Customer Service);
  • providing recommendations, derived from research and, on how to mitigate or remediate identified system vulnerabilities, threats, consequences, and risk (Oral Communication); and
  • working with cross-organizational counterparts and the larger cyber community to gain expertise and promote teamwork; and supporting the management of cybersecurity analytic initiatives and projects (Problem Solving).

In addition, have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector) providing support to an organization in developing strategies that protect information and counter security threats against IT infrastructures.

For the GS-13 you must have IT-related experience that includes activities such as providing written and oral analysis, production, and problem solving regarding cybersecurity and IT issues or problems. Experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies that includes:

  • preparing moderately complex reports and briefs addressing factors impacting cyber security (Attention to Detail);
  • identifying, analyzing, and reporting critical infrastructure vulnerabilities, threats, consequences, and risk (Customer Service);
  • providing recommendations, derived from research, on how to mitigate or remediate identified system vulnerabilities, threats, consequences, and risk (Oral Communication); and
  • working with cross-organizational counterparts and the larger cyber community to gain expertise and promote teamwork; and supporting the management of cybersecurity analytic initiatives and projects (Problem Solving).

In addition, have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector) identifying and analyzing security risk against IT infrastructures.

Education is not required for this position.
