The sites name is fiverr, and this puts a lot of people off selling on it as they think
they are only getting paid $5 per gig, and it’s true that at that rate you are going
to have to do a lot of selling/work to make it as a full time seller on fiverr, or are
you?
Well you need to look beyond that $5 mentality right now! This is the bit where
I’d throw ice cold water over you if I were there in person!
This is because as I mentioned in the above chapter on preparing for levels, that
you can offer gig extras at up to $40 each at level two, and three of those per gig
as extras! Now okay you are going to have to offer something good to command
those prices and deliver well, and not every buyer is going to buy an extra, but if
you just have a $5 mindset then that’s all you’ll ever earn, you need to make sure
that you aim to sell a service that you can offer at least one to two extras on with
each gig.
Now testing would indicate that a sliding scale of extras e.g. one extra at $10, the
next extra at $20 and the 3rd at $40 actually makes no difference to sales at all! It
doesn’t seem to matter about the price! It’s all about the service and making sure
that it compliments your $5 gig, as there is no point in selling facebook likes on
fiverr and then having an extra that’s for article writing! The two aren’t
connected and so the buyer has no interest in your extra. It must complement
the gig and most importantly offer “must have” value to the buyer.
Also bear in mind people come to fiverr to buy, that’s right they already have
their wallet halfway open, so there’s not too much need for a hard sell, all you
need to do is give them a nudge. An example is a gig “$5 for 1,000 facebook likes”
then following it up with “An extra 3,000 likes for $10”. The ‘extra’ complements
the first gig, and the buyer sees the value add as they get more like per $ in the
extra, and so are far more likely to buy than if the ‘extra’ is just irrelevant.
There are also ways to further boost your income with ‘Big Ticket’ sales outside
of fiverr. I cover this in a later chapter, which details how you can sell ‘Big ticket’
services whilst staying within fiverr’s rules and keeping your account 100% safe.
