EMEKA (worried)

Morning sickness, already? How long into this pregnancy are you?

Amara angrily struggles and manages to swallow the food in her mouth. Her eyes SNARES as she stares at Emeka like an easy prey.

AMARA (raises her voice)

How long into this pregnancy am I? Am I in this alone?

EMEKA (whispers)

Lower your voice. What was I to say?

Emeka responds almost immediately, oblivious of his wrong choice of words.

AMARA

You should have asked how long into this pregnancy are we. Stupid!

Amara ends her suggestion with an insult. Emeka MURMURS indistinct words.

AMARA (CONT’D) (rudely)

What did you say?

Emeka looks down to his food and continues eating.

AMARA (CONT’D) (arrogantly)

Oh, are you worried that we won’t be able to have an abortion because the baby is already too developed?

Emeka looks up at Amara.

EMEKA

You know that’s not what I mean. I was just wondering how long you’ve known without telling me.

Emeka, in a futile attempt, tries to appease Amara.

AMARA

Then keep wondering.

Amara uncomfortably scans for the closest Waitress around.

AMARA (CONT’D) (to a nearby waitress)

Excuse me!

Amara calls out to a Waitress standing two tables away.
