Ray Forbes appeared to have settled into the new flat that Max had provided and neighbors knew him by sight. He had contacted his family and arranged to see them. Max now had all the documentation needed to take over Ray’s identity in due course.
Having a bank account was essential with so many expenses, but he used cash wherever possible. The bank wanted to know the source of his income, because Social Security benefits were insufficient on their own. Max was also worried that in due course the Tax man would demand penalty payments for missed tax returns (when Ray had been a tramp). He would have to explain the modest income with no job. Where was this coming from and how was he making a living?
Time was running out fast for Max and Star; it was imperative that they leave the UK as soon as possible.
