June 20th 2013: Owner of Windsor mansion

The next morning, a visit to the Local Authority provided the information Max needed: the name of Michael Brander, the owner of Windsor mansion, and detailed plans of his enormous house and grounds.

Internet searches revealed a string of businesses involving the entrepreneur. It was apparent most of the businesses were perfect for money laundering. Payday loans, casinos, and all legal forms of gambling allowed the cash to be legitimized, including paying income tax on the profits.

“Star, I think the next move will be to show Mr. Brander how much we know about him and his business dealings. His public face is squeaky clean and free from police scrutiny. I believe he will do anything to maintain his cover, so I propose to rattle him and threaten to expose him to the police unless he pays me off. Obviously, he will try to find out who I am and kill me off, but if he can’t get to me, then he’ll pay.

“I’m thinking about £10 million would be realistic, based on the size of the money drops, and the number of those from different dealers every day.”

Star raised her eyebrows. Two thoughts crossed her mind. Would Max split the money with her? Would she and Max stay together? She dismissed another thought, too painful to consider. Would they get away with it?
