July 22nd 2013: Follow Dean

It was three weeks since Carla had started work at the lab. Everyone except Dean was friendly, though no one had time to gossip. Carla decided to find out a bit more about Dean Wilson. Using the I.T. man’s log on, she looked at the personnel records. On the basis that his records could be as bogus as hers, it was only a starting point. She noted he was married and his current home address, so decided to follow him and see what that might reveal.

Dean was staying in a small top floor flat.  When he went out alone for the evening, she let herself into the main building. With other occupants coming and going, the typical ploy of pretending to enter the pass code just as someone was coming out, worked perfectly.

She had intended to pick the lock to the flat door and snoop around. Her sharp eyes noticed a small piece of transparent sticky tape, almost cut through, acting as a security seal between door and frame. If anyone opened the door, the tape would break.

Carla, intrigued by this unexpected precaution, reasoned that Dean would have left nothing inside for anyone to find, if he expected a break-in.

She left the building, disappointed and took a taxi until she was near home. Needing to think things through, she got out, intending to walk back to her lodgings.
