Speak with the gang.

Later, back at the bungalow, Carla told Tom she must deal directly with the gang. He phoned the gang leader and they travelled in Mr. Rabinowitz’s car, to meet them at a nearby park.

Even to Tom’s untrained eye, it was obvious they were surrounded by armed men, behind nearby cover.

The gang leader was not what Carla had expected. He appeared to be about thirty years old, dressed in a smart, lightweight suit, sitting on a park bench. He watched Carla and Tom approach.

“I have never seen this guy, before.” Tom murmured, as they approached and sat down with the man.

“Hi, you can call me Carla; what do we call you?”

“Call me Jack, why do you want to speak to me?”

“You want to steal some cars! I know you threatened to kill Tom and his family if he refuses to help you, but he can’t. I am surprised you even bothered to involve him. Sure, he is on the inside, but he has no access to anything. I can help you, for a fee.”

The man said nothing, but beckoned over one of his men.

“We are going for a little ride, Carla - Tom as well. We can talk then.” He said.

“I’m not wearing a wire, if that is what you are worried about.”

The man just smiled. He got up and motioned them to follow his colleague. Other men instantly joined them, so Carla and Tom had no option but to follow.
