Chapter 10
Weeks turned into months as Aiden continued his life with the Urielin monks and in all that time, the Abbot was the only person he had any contact with. The routine he had become so accustomed to would, again, be interrupted. The Abbot showed him to the library, where he would learn to read and write. The language of the church was Latin and was especially challenging for anyone, much less, a small boy. But, Aiden learned surprisingly fast and within only two years, sat among the monks, reading and transcribing ancient texts onto empty pages of newly bound books, created for the purpose of preserving what they believe to be the word of God, as well as the complex instructions for the banishment of evil. By this time he was ten years of age, he had become very well read on the topics of Biblical Scripture and witchcraft. But this was not the end of his studies, and as his years advanced, he would also be required to learn on matters of evil. Evil was everywhere and Satan lurked behind every rock and tree. One only needs to learn how to recognize it.
Among these matters, Aiden would also become familiar with the inner workings of the occult. Not as a practitioner, but as someone who would come to understand the mechanics of magic, the dark intentions behind numerous symbols of the arcane as well as their use. From the day of his arrival, Aiden was being groomed for a singular purpose and when he was ready, he would be released as the sworn enemy of evil. The right hand of God.
