Chapter 9

The next morning arrived and Bobby’s friends hit the campus in search of a reverse potion.

Jake waited outside the history building, and he was looking forward to spending time alone with Sadie.  He scanned the students while they walked around campus.  Then his eyes lit up when he saw Sadie walking up to him.

“Good morning. I'm glad you showed up,” Sadie said with a warm smile.

“I'm happy to be here and we can’t thank you enough for helping us,” Jake replied.

“Honestly, I’ve always felt that Rocky was a huge asshole and that the doorways to every building here on campus needed widening to accommodate his huge head.”

“That’s an very interesting observation about Rocky, so why did you decide to help?” Jake replied.

“I don’t know.  I’ve always been interested in the occult and besides, you looked like you really wanted to help your friend and I respect that.”

“I really appreciate that,” Jake said with a smile.

Sadie looked at the building then at her watch.  “He should be in his office,” she responded.

They walked to the front doors of the history building and went inside.

Sadie and Jake walked down the hallway and stopped outside Professor Ruby’s office door.   Sadie knocked on the door.

“Enter,” Professor Ruby called out from inside his office.

Jake opened the door for Sadie, which impressed her, as this was the first time a guy was a gentleman for her.

Professor Ruby sat slouched at his desk reviewing some paperwork.  His office was messy with tons of history books, files and papers.  There was a closet door off to his side, which was closed.

“Professor, may we ask you some questions?” Sadie asked while she and Jake stood by the opened door.

Professor Ruby’s eyes widened with surprise when he saw Jake.  “Well, well, mister Noone, this is a first.  You asking questions,” he said.

“I know sir,” Jake replied being extra polite so the professor would help them.

“How may I help you?” Professor Ruby asked.

“It's about your lecture the other day about the two witches that settled here in Bellwood.  We're seeking some additional information about that potion you called Witches Brew,” Sadie said.

Professor Ruby sat up straight, and suddenly appeared a little nervous.  “Why, ah, why do you want to know about that potion?”

“We need to know if there is a potion that will reverse the effects of the Witches Brew?” Jake replied.

Professor Ruby gave a fake laugh while he stood up. “You have to understand. That story about the potion is nothing but a legend.  It was never proven to be true,” Professor Ruby told them with a convincing tone.

“But your lecture sounded like it really existed,” Sadie quickly replied a little confused.

“I'm sorry Sadie. I dramatized my lecture a bit to make it interesting.  I'm sorry if I mislead you,” Professor Ruby said with eyes that looked like he was serious.

“But we know that that potion must really exists,” Jake blurted out.

“Those potions never existed.  They were just interesting myths.  Now, I have a meeting to attend in five minutes, so if you don’t mind, I’ll see you in our next class,” Professor Ruby said and looked anxious for them to leave.

Sadie and Jake looked at each in disappointment.

“Thank you professor,” Sadie said.

“Yeah. Thanks,” Jake added.

Sadie and Jake left his office, and closed the door behind them.

Professor Ruby stared at the closed door and looked a little nervous.

The closet door opened, Cecil walked out of the closed.

He walked up to Professor Ruby, and patted him on the shoulder.

Professor Ruby jumped a bit.

“You did good, teach,” Cecil said.

“So, you’ll let me in on this action?” Professor Ruby asked.

“Sure teach, how much do you want to place?” Cecil said.

Professor Ruby thought for a few seconds.  “Put me down for $2,000,” he replied and the thought of increasing his savings account was a temptation he couldn’t resist.

“You got it,” Cecil replied then walked out of his office.

Professor Ruby sat back down at his desk and he really didn’t care if Rocky stayed gay.  After all, he’s been living the gay life for the past 25 years and his first encounter was with a student.

Meanwhile, Red and Mindy walked up to the office door for Coach Kennedy.  Red knocked on the door.

“Yeah,” Coach Kennedy called out from inside his office.

“It’s me, Red.”

“Get your ass in here,” Coach Kennedy yelled out from inside his office.

“Stay by the door in case he throws something,” Red told Mindy and suddenly looked a little nervous about talking with the Coach.

Red opened the door for Mindy and they went inside.

Red and Mindy stood by the door and looked at the Coach while he sat behind his desk with his playbook in hand.

“What the fuck is wrong with my superstar?” Coach Kennedy asked in a raised voice.

“We don’t know yet,” Red replied.

Coach Kennedy stood up and walked up to Red.

Red looked up at the tower of terror that stood two feet from him.

“Well, you’re concerning me because I never went to college and it’s obvious to me that he’s a fucking faggot,” Coach Kennedy said in a raised voice.

“We know that now,” Mindy replied.

Coach Kennedy glared at her.  “And what the fuck are you going to do about it?”

“We’re trying to figure that out,” she replied.

“Coach, we did learn that Rocky met with someone named Bernie who claimed he was a scout for the Steelers a couple of nights ago,” Red quickly added.

Coach Kennedy looked a little baffled.  “Steelers scout?  That’s impossible.  Steve Booker is a scout from the Steelers and he’s showing up the day of the championship.  And I personally know him, as we were in the Corps stationed in Hawaii,” Coach Kennedy said.  Coach Kennedy paced around a little.  “You better find this Bernie guy and see what he knows,” he ordered.

“Yes Coach,” Red relied then quickly opened up the door and they slipped out.

Coach Kennedy walked up and kicked his trash can in anger.  It flew across his office and smacked into a framed picture of the Coach when he was in the Marines.  The picture fell to the floor and the picture glass cracked.

Later that day Mindy, Red, Jake, Sadie sat in a booth at Sam’s Sport Bar at four o’clock.

“We tried to get some information from Professor Ruby, but he claims that the Witches Brew is only a legend.  But I was in his class and his lecture made it sound like it was for real,” Sadie told them.

“I heard the lecture and she’s right.  Plus he appeared a little nervous when he asked,” Jake added.

Sadie nodded her head in agreement with Jake.

“Why would he change the story?” Mindy asked suspiciously

“Maybe someone is forcing him to hide the truth?” Red theorized.

“I wonder who would do that?” Jake asked.

“Red and myself will try to find that out and we’re still working on that so called scout from the Steelers,” Mindy said.

“The coach said that the scout was supposed to show up the day of the championship game and his name was Steve and not Bernie,” Jake added.

“Where’s Rocky, I mean Bobby?” Jake asked curiously.

“I heard through the grape vine that he’s with Stefon and they said something about decorating his dorm room,” Sadie said.

“That should be interesting,” Red said while he glanced over at Jake and cracked a smile.

“Oh great,” Jake replied and he looked a little apprehensive about how his room will appear.

Sadie sat there and looked determined.  “I know that Witches Brew potion exists.  I'm not going to give up on finding a reverse potion,” she told everybody.  Then she grabbed Jake’s hand.  “Come on Jake.  We have some researching to accomplish,” she said while she got him out of the booth.

“We’ll catch ya later,” Jake told Mindy and Red.

They watched while Jake and Sadie walked away toward the front doors.

Mindy looked over at Red.  “I do believe she’s taking a liking to Jake,” she said.

“It’s about time a girl starts to like Jake,” Red replied and liked the fact that Jake might be getting a girl for once.

“Come on.  We also have some work to do,” Mindy told him.

They got up from the booth and headed toward the front door.

Ernie and Mitch sat at a nearby booth and heard their entire discussion.

Meanwhile at the mall, Bobby and Stefon both walked around with their hands full of shopping bags.  They laughed and had a great time and became best buddies.

Later that day, Bobby and Stefon were inside Bobby’s dorm room where they just started to redecorate.

They removed all the sports posters that were on the walls by Bobby’s side of the room.

They painted the walls a shade of bright yellow.

They had a feminine looking bed with a canopy and fringes around the edges of the bed covers delivered to the room.

After they were all done, Bobby and sat on the bed and admired their work.

“You're a different person from a few weeks ago,” Stefon said.

“It seems that as each day goes by, my memory of my past is disappearing.  What was I like?” Bobby asked.

Stefon hesitated then decides to spill his guts.  “One. You knocked me on my tush when I was trying to give you some water at a game.  Two. You tripped me at Sam's Sports Bar. Three.  Had some girl stick a dildo on my back.  Four.  Flicked my ear in class and said something like, I hate the smell of fags in the morning,” Stefon told him.

Rocky hung his head in shame.

“Oh yeah, let's not forget how you crushed my dreams of playing football, by not allowing me to play on the team. I'm good if you give me a chance,” Stefon added.

“I'm so sorry!  I’m such a bully,” Bobby replied with sincerity in his voice.  He leaned over and gave Stefon a hug for forgiveness.   Then Bobby gazed into Stefon’s eyes.  He flicked the bangs out of Stefon’s eyes.  He leaned in and kissed Stefon on the lips.

“I’m sorry Bobby, you’re a nice guy, but you’re not my type.  Can we just remain friends?” Stefon while he pulled away from Bobby.

Bobby’s feeling was hurt on being rejected.  “Wow.  This is the first time I’ve ever been turned down and had that line used on me,” Bobby confessed with hurt eyes.  “I just don’t what happened that turn me gay,” he added.

Stefon looked at Bobby’s sad eyes and decided it was time.  “I need to tell you about the potion called Witches Brew you drank,” he told him.

“Potion?  You know, I vaguely remember hearing something about that in our history class,” Bobby recalled.

“That’s correct.  Legend story has it that two lesbian witches made it back around the 1690’s to turn people gay,” Stefon said.

“I can't believe I got duped.  I guess that scout from the Steelers was also a fake.  But who would set me up?” Bobby asked.

“Mindy, Jake and Red are trying to find that out.”

“Oh Mindy.  She's such a sweetheart,” Bobby said the second he thought about her.

“Oh yeah, and then there's Mindy,” Stefon said.

“What did I do to her?” Bobby asked a little afraid.

“First of all, she's deeply in love with you and all you do is cheat on her,” Stefon said in a scolding tone.

“What am I going to do?” Bobby said while he hid his face in his hands ashamed of himself.

“Jake and Sadie are working on a way to reverse it,” Stefon told him.

Stefon thought for a second, then an idea popped in his mind.  “I know, why don't we enter the karaoke contest at the Witches Brew?  That will take your mind off this dilemma,” Stefon asked.

Bobby thought about his suggestion.  “So I take it that you frequent this bar?” he asked.

“Of course.”

“Karaoke?”  Bobby said while he thought about if for a few seconds.  “I would love that,” Bobby replied while he jumped up and down clapping his hands like a little girl.  “Okay. I know the perfect song. How about Abba's Dancing Queen?” he added.

“That sounds great,” Stefon replied.

Then Bobby looked concerned.  “But with one condition.”

“What's that?”

“No drinks,” Bobby responded.

They both chuckled.

“Let’s practice,” Bobby said while he jumped up off the bed.

In the hallway outside Bobby’s dorm room, a couple of students, Russ, Henry, Kippy, and William walked to their dorm rooms exhausted from a grilling day of classes.

Soon the hallway was filled with the sounds of Bobby and Stefon singing Abba’s Dancing Queen song.

The students stopped dead in their tracks with perplexed looks on their faces when they heard the singing coming out of Jake’s dorm room.

“Is that Rocky?” one of the students asked another.

They both listened for a few seconds.  “I believe so,” the other student replied.

“Maybe the rumor it true?”

“Sounds like it,” the other student replied.

They both stayed in the hallway and listened to the singing in disbelief.
