Chapter 14
It was now 7:43 p.m. and Sadie looked inside the Crock-pot. The potion turned a light green almost fluorescent color.
“According to the recipe, it should be ready,” she said while she stirred.
She walked over to her dresser and grabbed the stainless steel water bottle. She walked back to the Crock-pot and scooped up some potion with the ladle. She poured it into her water bottle. She scooped some more with the ladle and filled up the water bottle.
Jake looked at his watch. “I’m supposed to be in the locker room now,” he told Sadie.
“We need to get this to Bobby. The potion will only last two hours according to the recipe,” she said.
“Let’s hurry,” he told her then grabbed her hand and rushed her to the door.
A little while later, Jake rushed into the locker room where the other players were already dressed in their uniforms and waited.
He looked around the locker room and didn’t see Bobby or Red.
Coach Kenney entered the locker room. “Where the hell is my superstar and how come you’re not in uniform? Game starts in a few minutes,” Coach Kennedy yelled at Jake.
Jake did another glance around the room and realized Bobby wasn’t in the room.
“I’ll find out,” Jake replied to Coach Kennedy then rushed out of the room.
“Get back here Noone!” Coach Kennedy screamed out while the locker room door slammed closed.
Coach Kennedy kicked the trash can.
Numerous players ducked while the can ricocheted off one of the lockers.
“Shit!” Coach Kennedy yelled while he stormed off to his office.
The Panthers looked at each other and looked worried.
“We’re in deep shit,” one of the players said.
“We’ll just have to give it out best shot,” another player added.
They continued getting dressed in their uniforms.
Jake and Sadie, with the bottle in hand, rushed through the campus and headed toward his dorm building.
Jake and Sadie rushed into his dorm room and left his door opened.
“Where the hell is he?” he asked while he saw that the room was empty.
Russ over heard Jake while he walked by the opened door. He came back and stuck his head into the room.
“Are you looking for Rocky?” Russ asked.
“Sweet pants was asking us if we wanted to listen to him at some Karaoke show tonight at some bar called the Witches Brew,” Russ said.
“Did you say Karaoke?” Jake asked to make sure he heard correctly.
“Yes, Karaoke at eight,” Russ replied then walked away and headed down the hallway to his room
“I guess we’re heading to a gay bar,” Jake told Sadie.
She nodded in agreement then they rushed out of his room.
Sadie and Jake ran out of his dorm building and headed to the parking lot.
They ran to the parking lot and up to his car.
“Shit!” he cursed the second he saw that he had two flat tires. Ernie and Mitch flattened them an hour ago, as one way to keep them away from Rocky. “What are we going to do now?” he said.
“I have transportation,” she offered and grabbed his hand.
She rushed him through the parking lot and headed to the parking lot for her dorm.
Sadie rushed Jake through her parking lot.
She stopped in the motorcycle area, and she stopped at a GTS 300 Super Vespa scooter.
“You want me to ride on a scooter?” he asked while he stared at the Vespa.
“Or we can run to the Witches Brew,” she replied.
“Let’s go,” Jake said while he walked over and sat on the back of her Vespa.
She removed her keys from he pocket while she walked over to her scooter. She handed Jake the bottle then sat on the front. She started up her scooter.
Sadie didn’t notice Cecil’s Caddy that was parked at the far end of the parking lot while she drove out of the lot.
Cecil’s Caddy pulled out of its spot and followed Sadie’s scooter.
Sadie drove her scooter out of Bellwood College.
Ernie sat in Cecil’s Caddy while he followed Sadie’s Vespa.
“Are you sure someone said Rocky’s at the Witches Brew?” Cecil asked Ernie.
“That’s what someone said who lives down the hall from him,” Ernie replied.
“I’m taking it that since numb nuts has a bottle in his hand, they found a potion to reverse our plan,” Cecil said while he followed Sadie’s scooter.
The stadium at the Bellwood College was filling up fast for the big game.
Coach Kenney was furious while he paced in front of his players in the locker room.
“I don’t fucking believe it! My star player decided not to fucking show up!” he yelled while he kicked another trash can sailing it across the room and it bounced off the head of one of the players.
He stormed off to his office.
The Panthers knew they were in trouble since Rocky, Red and Jake haven’t shown up for the game.
Professor Ruby slowly drove past Cecil's home and noticed his Caddy was not in the driveway. He parked his car along the street a few houses down from Cecil’s driveway.
He got out and ran over to Cecil’s house.
Professor Ruby looked over his shoulder while he rushed up Cecil’s driveway.
He rushed around to the back of the house.
He pushed up on a window, and it didn’t open.
He pushed up on another window, and it didn’t open.
He pushed up on another window, it was stuck and hard to open. He strained and then it opened up a couple of inches. He strained harder, and it opened up a few more inches. He gave it all his strength and his face was beat red while he pushed up on the window.
Professor Ruby climbed through the window opening and entered Cecil’s house.
Professor Ruby ran out of Cecil’s bedroom, which had tons of nude women posters pinned to the walls.
He ran down the hallway.
He ran into the kitchen.
He opened the door to the basement.
Mindy and Red were asleep but the noise of the creaky wooden floors of someone running through the house woke them up.
The lights to the basement came on and they heard the noise of the creaky wooden stairs of someone running down the stairs.
They looked a little confused when they saw Professor Ruby running up to them.
“Help!” Mindy and Red both muffled out in unison behind their duct taped mouths.
“I'm glad the both of you are okay,” Professor Ruby said while he knelt down by them.
He removed a small pocketknife from his pocket. He cut Red’s rope freeing his hands. He cut the Duct tape away from his ankles.
He looked Red in his eyes. “I’m sorry, but this will hurt,” he said.
“Ahhhh!” Red screamed while Professor Ruby ripped off the Duct tape from his mouth with a single hard pull.
“It’s your turn Mindy,” Professor Ruby told her while he cut her rope. He cut the duct tape away from her ankles.
“Ahhhh!” Mindy screamed while Professor Ruby ripped off the Duct tape from her mouth with a single hard pull.
“Ernie Sobers and Mitch Bowman and two other sleaze balls kidnapped us,” she told the Professor.
Professor Ruby looked ashamed of himself. “I know. Ernie came to me about a potion called Witches Brew. He wanted me to make Rocky play really lousy during the State Championship game. They're now trying to stop Sadie and Jake. They threaten me if I didn't keep my mouth shut,” he confessed.
“Why did you have a change in heart?” Mindy asked
“That little voice inside me made me feel guilty,” Professor Ruby replied.
“We need to go to the police,” Mindy said while she stood up.
Jake stood up, and they ran to the stairs.
Traffic around Bellwood was getting thin while the stragglers were making their way to the stadium for the game.
Sadie whizzed her Vespa down a Bellwood street and Jake had his left arm around her waist while he held onto the bottle in his right hand.
Sadie passed some slower moving cars.
“Don't kill me,” Jake said into her ears.
“Don't worry. I want you alive and all to myself,” she replied.
Jake smiled over that thought.
They didn’t notice Cecil’s Caddy that tailed them.
Sadie made a right turn down another street.
Cecil’s Caddy followed and got closer and closer to the Vespa.
Sadie and Jake were still unaware his Caddy tailed her scooter.
Then Jake heard the sound of the Caddy’s engine behind them. He turned around and saw Cecil and Ernie in the Caddy a foot behind them.
“We got company and they don't appear to like us very much,” Jake called out to Sadie.
“I recognize Ernie Sobers but don’t know the old dude. You better lose them quick,” he replied while the Caddy got six inches from the back of the Vespa.
“Hold on tight.” Sadie yelled out while she gunned the throttle.
Jake shoved the bottle into his pants for safekeeping, and Sadie felt the bottle against her back.
“Is that a bottle in your pants or are you just happy to see me?” she replied with a smile.
“Both,” he replied.
“I don’t recall it being that big,” she jokingly replied.
She drove the scooter right up the center lane going between the cars.
Cecil tried to move his Caddy around the cars but didn’t have the opportunity, so he banged his steering wheel in frustration.
Sadie made a sudden left turn in front of a car, and that car screeched on its brakes.
Sadie raced off down that street.
Cecil’s Caddy made a screeching left turn onto that same street.
The Caddy accelerated down the street after the Vespa.
The Caddy got a foot behind the Vespa.
Jake turned around and saw the grill of the Caddy inching closer. “He’s about to eat my ass,” Jake screamed out.
“Hold on tight,” she yelled out while she saw that the light up ahead was red.
She ran through the red light and made a left turn down another street.
The Caddy made a screeching left turn through the red light and crashed into a pickup truck.
All the other cars came to a screeching halt at the scene of the accident.
Jake turned around, and saw that the Caddy crashed into a pickup truck.
“We lost them,” Jake yelled out.
“Where did they go?” she replied.
“They made a date with a pickup truck,” he answered.
“Good, let’s go deliver this potion,” she said while she made a right turn and headed down another street.
Inside his car, Cecil had a cut forehead when he banged it into the steering wheel.
Ernie’s forehead was bruised from banging it into the dashboard.
Cecil looked down the street and the Vespa was nowhere in sight.
“Damn it!” he cursed out.
“We better meet Sal at the game,” Ernie said.
“Yeah, maybe we can head them off there,” Cecil replied.
Cecil’s Caddy sputtered while it slowly drove off and his back tire wobbled and part of his rear quarter panel dragged along the street.
Back at the accident scene, the driver of the pickup truck got out of his truck.
“Where the hell are you going?” he yelled at Cecil’s Caddy while he drove away with sparks flying from his quarter panel dragging along the street.
Ernie’s cell phone rang. He opened it up and looked at the viewfinder. “Shit, it’s Sal,” he told Cecil.
“Tell him that we stopped them,” Cecil said.
“Yeah Sal,” Ernie answered the call.
“You’re a fucking genus my boy,” Sal replied from Ernie’s cell phone. “The Panthers are losing fourteen to zip so far and that quarterback star hasn’t showed up. I guess we didn’t’ need him after all,” Sal replied in a happy voice.
“Great. We’ll be at the stadium soon,” Ernie replied then disconnected the call.
“What did he say?” Cecil asked concerned Sal was pissed.
“He’s happy since the Panthers are losing,” Ernie replied with a huge grin knowing he would be out of this financial mess.
Cecil turned his Caddy down another street and slowly headed toward the stadium with wobbly tires and his rear quarter panel still dragging along the street.
