Chapter 34
The next day they went to see Rev. Pemberton first. When they arrived at the church’s office the secretary greeted them and without delay ushered them into Rev. Pemberton’s office. He also gave Jason and Raquel a warm greeting.
After checking their documents, he explained to them what they would need to do to procure a marriage license. The marriage license would cost US$200.00 and would be obtained from the office of the Attorney General. They would be eligible and could apply after being on the island for forty eight hours. He also informed them that they would have to bring the license when acquired in order for him to ensure that he could perform the ceremony. Also he promised them that their official marriage certificate would available three days after the wedding. When asked if they understood in unison both Jason and Raquel answered yes.
Rev. Pemberton then compiled a schedule for their counselling sessions. As set out there would be two, two hour sessions weekly. The week leading up to the wedding there would be one session and one full wedding rehearsal.
Their first counselling session was friendly and informative. Rev. Pemberton asked them to be honest with each other. He assured them that if they were each other’s best friend then there would be little or no instances of disagreement or mistrust. After the counselling session they left for Little Bay Aquatica Rosewood Resort.
When they arrived they asked to see the wedding coordinator. The receptionist invited them to have a seat and asked if they would like a drink. They accepted. Shervonne Thornhill was the wedding coordinator. She greeted them with a warm and friendly smile. After the introduction, they all went to her office. She explained everything to them. They learned about some of the details which were not so familiar.
The hotel would place a tent to assist with keeping persons in the shade. It would also keep the area dry in case of rain. They also had a portable sound system which would be used. In addition the hotel supplied the chairs and a lectern for free. If needed they was an interior decorator in house who would assist with decorating the setting. After giving them all of the details Shervonne invited them to see the wedding area.
They were quite pleased with all of the details. She showed them the chairs as well as the flower stands and other items they could choose from to use to complete the décor of the wedding area. Jason and Raquel were satisfied that all of their plans were gelling quite nicely. When she was finished Shervonne invited them to meet with the manager of the hotel. Mr. Raphael Lamonte greeted them and wished them well.
He also advised that if there was anything they needed to just let Shervonne know and his team would be happy to assist. Also on behalf of the hotel he offered the couple a wedding cake and a one week stay at the hotel whenever they chose. He gracefully asked Shervonne to take Jason and Raquel to see the Pastry chef and to let them choose a cake they liked from the various catalogs in the hotel’s collection.
He thanked them both for choosing the Little Bay Aquatica Rosewood Resort to have their wedding and wished them the best on their wedding day. They all shook hands and Shervonne escorted them to see the pastry chef in her office. Mr. Lamonte had already called ahead and so Angela Jemmott was ready and waiting when Shervonne knocked on the door. She introduced Jason and Raquel.
After the introduction and the greetings along with well wishes, Angela invited the couple to sit. She asked for some details about the wedding to get a feel for an appropriate cake. Once she got the information she needed she chose a blue cake book. She showed Jason and Raquel three or four cakes which were her choices.
Jason and Raquel chose a white three layered cake with blue trimmings and strawberries dipped in white chocolate cascading from the top to the bottom. Angela was happy. She thanked them for their time and promised that she would deliver what they chose maybe with one or two additions. They in turned thanked her and left.
