It was a simple, elegant party. There were not a lot of people—the workers at the American Museum, Mahdi, Munir, and some journalists. The surprise tied his tongue, so he could not say anything. He was nodding while other people were clapping their hands for him when he entered from the door of the museum. Some other people were having fun bursting balloons and cracking fireworks to welcome him.

Among all the faces in the party, a thin, smiling face with black eyes one of which had aberration towards the left has emerged. It is Zohra’s face. The surprise shocks Khaled

You’re behind everything?
Who else could it be? Anyways, there should be someone to tell the whole truth. It’s truly unjust that nobody knows the amount of sacrifices that were made for the sake of this painting and the sake of Tangier.
I didn’t do that to receive praise.
Beautiful idealism. I know you would have never done it to be praised. I did it instead of you to spare you what you didn’t nor will ever think of.
I don’t know which is surprising—your presence here or the party.
I came here three days before you. I came to the museum to tell you the whole story. The celebration wasn’t my suggestion to be honest. They actually suggested it.
I thought it was the same time to see you when I accompanied you home after…
Stop! Don’t scratch a healing wound!

There was a cake in the middle of the rectangle table. On the icing there was a phrase ‘Zahrliza 1952 - 2013’.

What do you mean with the dates?
They’re the two birthdays of Zahrliza. The first was when it was painted, and the second when it was reborn again when you returned it.

The manager of the museum gave a short speech in which he narrated the history of the painting and Khaled’s story with it before surprising Khaled when he gave him the floor to deliver a speech. He cleared his throat,

Thanks God… Thanks Tangier…Thank you all

He said no more than three sentences before giving them a gesture to resume the celebration. I said what I had, and he was really honest when he was not willing to brag about what he did for Tangier.

Tangier gave him a lot of things, and he thought that what he did to her did not equal one tenth of that.

Zohra said to him,

There’s something new in the investigations with the Belgium gang.
Really? Update me. I’m tired of waiting for news.
Huda was acquitted.
Are you serious?
Yes. I found details about her case in a local paper. It’s evident she’s a shrewd woman. Her lawyer asked Dr. Bernard and the gang to provide evidence to prove their claims. The party that makes assertion must prove it. Clearly enough they didn’t have anything excepts for spoken conversations and some ambiguous emails that you can’t use to prove anything. By the end of the day, they found that purchasing a bag as a present isn’t a crime punishable by law, so they released her.
Alright. This’s better. I don’t like any person to experience half what I lived in the prison especially if that person is a woman.
Do you still have feelings for Huda?
Rest assured that I’m not suffering from Stockholm syndrome. It’s true that I don’t hate her, nor am I willing to take revenge, especially after going through everything I witnessed in life, this doesn’t mean I have any feelings for her. It doesn’t mean also not to have fun like what we’re going to do now.
What fun do you mean?

Khaled pulled Zohra by the hand and said to one of the journalists,

Listen. I will give you my whole story exclusively to publish under one condition.
Your conditions are commands.
I need you to feature your story with the picture you’re going to take for Zohra and me.
I’ll never say no.

Khaled and Zohra posed for the photo and between them in the background was the Zahrliza. They smiled and the journalist took it.

What have you really done that?
We’ll send this report to the darling Huda after we can have her address. Not having malice towards her doesn’t mean we won’t satisfy ourselves.
How mischievous you are.

Mahdi told Khaled that he would work again in the museum after the administration apologized and asked him to return to his job. After the party ended, and everybody left, Khaled and Zohra went to the Café Hafa that overlooked the sea. The waves were singing a merry symphony they had forgot its melody because of grief. The summer sun of Tangier was waving them goodbye giving way to the noisy night.

Khaled and Zohra were silent contemplating the scene. They were exchanging thousands of words without moving their lips. Their silence was chatting as their hearts were announcing the birth of a pure, innocent love embraced by their Tangier.

Finally, Khaled started in his mind writing the first words of his coming novel,

One inch… one second…one simple movement. We may not pay these details any attention. They may very often have significant impact on our lives forever. One millimeter of hesitation may change the course of life towards a direction we do not know.
