Chapter 10
CHINESE PHILOSOPHERS and KNOWLEDGE
The Chinese philosophers, described the process of acquiring knowledge as a two step process
(1) LEARNING and (2) THINKING.
These two steps to knowledge are applicable to both domain and domain independent knowledge.
The most important aspect of knowledge is the ability to remember whatever one learns. Remembering is the ability to store the information and retrieve, what ever was learnt.
Everyone who go through a conventional education is expected to know this.
Learning: consists of searching and collecting information. The information source can be the messages heard, seen, read from various media that are relevant to our individual life situation.
Removing non-relevant and redundant information is one essential step. The information so collected are mere messages that contain problems calling for solutions and some times solutions to problems.
Tamil Poet and thinker Ovvaiyaar insists:: Learning shall not stop even for a day. It is not difficult to understand the reason. The world around us is continuously changing. The old knowledge becomes obsolete. Here we end the discussion on basics of knowledge.
Living on faith is every source of guidance other than generating one[‘S own, There are tons of literature that contain ready to use knowledge, Those who are unable to live based on their own knowledge live through faith. That includes the knowledgeable people around them, in the society.
