CHAPTER 30. FINALLY, SOMEONE I LIKE!

I went to the capital city for my first night out.

It was one of those small, dark, and clandestine places that the mafia managed. The bar Eagle’s Nest was close to the FBI and another gay bar, the Hideaway, which suggested that it had protection. When I entered, I noticed that the clientele was completely different: virile and attractive men.

Fifteen minutes after arriving, I see a guy who reminds me of my old friend Daniel: a long-nosed Anglo-Saxon, full lips, athletic body, black hair, big teeth, and striking eyes. The attraction was immediate. He came over and, without me being able to say no, he took me to dance.

“You’re the most beautiful young man who has come in today,” he said. I can’t see myself as beautiful, but if a handsome American like him says this, could it be possible that my vision is distorted?

His name was Mark, and he was a farmer in the rural areas of Maryland. He confessed to me that he had a lover but that their relationship was open.

What a difference sexual attraction makes! He invited me to his farm, which meant that I would sleep, for the first time, outside of the University dorm and in the open field, surrounded by wheat and cows. I didn’t hesitate for a second. The house was rustic and spacious; it had a fireplace in his room, near the bed.
