“For me, it was also a surprise to find out that now Ted likes older people. How tastes change!”

“And are you doing well in Puerto Rico?”

How could I not want to kill this white and boring rat? I take advantage of the fact that Ted gets up, goes to the kitchen, and I bump into him on the way.

“How the hell did you end up getting involved with such a feminine and stupid crazy queen?”

“I told you before: you don’t find what you desire, but if things go well, you find what you need.”

This wasn’t going to end like this. The next day, Ted and I were at the Taft hotel, once again cuddled up.

The years had made him more attractive, but he had lost weight. I told him about my life since the last time we saw each other. He was aware of everything.

“I don’t understand you. Are you going back to Costa Rica? If I just lift a finger, I can get you American citi-zenship, give you a position wherever you want, I can even appoint you as my advisor. Don’t you understand that the only country where you can be whatever you want and be part of it without having your Judaism thrown in your face is this one?”

“You know I want to be a professor. I’ve never asked you for a position anywhere because I’m not crazy enough to get involved in politics. However, I accept everything you offer now. But you must leave this Swiss lover you have. If you can’t, we’ll kill him together.”
