Isidrio’s Story
Isidrio’s parents left their home town about 20 years ago, leaving Isidrio behind at just 2 years old. After eleven years of hard work, they decided to take Isidrio to live with them in the United States. Isidrio shares how being only 12 years old, he felt as if he had to constantly face multiple challenges. He mentions how his biggest challenge was the language barriers, and notes how this is similar from many other child migrants. He says how he had no one tohelp him with schoolwork, because his parents didn’t understand English, and it was difficult to make friends because they all spoke English. He continues on to tell us how he was bullied, and having no friends at the time made the situation much more difficult. His story eventually takes a turn for the better and he made friends, learned English, and was able tograduate high school. Unfortunately, this didn’t last. He was unable to attend college because of his status. Isidrio also faces a bigger problem, for his family is being faced with deportation. Through it all he wants to remind others to stay positive, and that like many others going through a similar situation, he will not lose hope and faith.
