Run Luther, Run

A wolf, thirsty for blood, howls at the full moon.

A bunch of sheep are asleep, unaware of the imminent danger. Among them, only one wakes up, scared from the howl.

Black warhorses run through the woods. A coach flees from them. Luther is inside; he is the only passenger.

Looking behind, Luther watches the warhorses approach. He turns back, terrified. “Go faster. Faster,” he hysterically yells at the driver.

The driver has some fancy, colorful clothes on. Luther realizes that. He gets suspicious. He looks outside the window to take a close look at the driver.

The driver looks back. He is the Pope with a very big sinister smile on his face!

Luther screams.

Luther wakes up from the nightmare with a scream. The face all sweat and the eyes frightened, he breathes rapidly while gradually realizing that he is sitting on his bed in Wartburg Castle, where he is in hiding from the public after the escape from the Diet of Worms.

Luther looks back. There is nothing there but a flat wall. After a few moments that he regains his breath, he leans forward, holding his head between his hands. He remembers the Pope’s sinister smile from the dream.

The war is on. Professor Martin Luther, the greatest theologian of his era, is at daggers drawn with the most powerful man in the Holy Roman Empire. He needs to figure an effective way to counter the Pope’s attack.
