Do something new

We’ve talked a lot about the power of changing your state, and several ways to do this. Here’s one more tool you can use: do something new. Most of us do the same things over and over, and eventually, they become boring.

The frontal lobe, the most powerful part of your brain, thrives on newness. So expand your options, and you will find it that much easier to access positive states.

Make a list of all the things that make you feel great.

Here are some examples. Sing your favorite song. Take ten deep breaths. Name twenty-five things you are grateful for.

Watch an inspirational movie. Call someone and tell them you love them. Exercise. Pump your fist in the air and shout,

“I am awesome!” ten times. Meditate. Grab your favorite book. There are literally thousands of ways to change your state so you produce positive emotions. Use this list daily when you need to quickly change your state.
