Oh my goodness. You wouldn’t believe the success that I’ve had using this method to getting my NBA cards autographed by the NBA players. Players like Ben Wallace, Jason Kid & Chauncey Billups…all returned my trading cards with their autographed back to me!
You may have in your possession the rookie card or a player card of one of your favorite players and you want to get it signed…The only solution I thought was to go to the games and be one of the lucky ones to get to the players for that split second and ask for an autograph.
Not necessarily…While this method can work, it can still be a little costly and unsure. You’d have to spend at least $15 to go to the games. Then when you get there, you’re not promised that the players will have anytime to sign autographs, so know you’d have to depend on catching the players at the right moment. And you just can’t predict when that is.
However, this method, I’m going to show you has been proven to get right to the players in their own personal time…that means they won’t be distract to sign what you want for them to sign.
You may laugh at how simple and inexpensive these steps are but I bet you won’t have any crowd to fight through…• STEP 1: Search the phone book or the Internet for the team's mailing address.
More than often you can find the team’s mailing address right on their website. Check under the Fan Zone section area. Try a google search too, that seems to work quite well at times.
• STEP 2: Send two (2) cards to the player with a self-addressed, stamped return envelope to help ensure that the card actually comes back.
Send a self-addressed stamped return envelope ensures that the player doesn’t have to put in any effort to find an envelope and stamps. Chances are if you leave him with this task, he’ll forget to do it, because you have to remember he’s a pro athlete with practice and weight lifting to go to. Make him work less and he’ll feel appreciate that you took the time to do this.
Oftentimes, the first place where players see a new card is in their fan mail, and although it's unfair, players typically will just keep a new card. So sending two(2) will increase the odds that he sends the other one signed back to you.
• STEP 3: In the letter, be sure to include a brief note thanking him and acknowledging that you’re one of his greatest fan. You letter should follow this pattern….
Dear (Player),Put yourself in the athlete’s shoes and try to figure out who wouldn’t they mind not taking a minute out of their busy schedule to sign and return a basketball card for.
SPECIAL NOTE!Some players are very diligent about answering their mail; others let letters pile up for months, and still others never answer their mail at all. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t get a response back. Because while some may forget or not respond at all, there are some that do.
These steps that I’ve just shown you can practically be used to get any sports trading card signed. The only reason why I have indicated Basketball cards is because those are the only ones that I’ve proven. In my next update of this report, I will let you know how that worked out.
