Chapter 46

Sowing And Reaping

“God shall not be mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that also shall he reap,”1 The Scriptures say that planting mercy and aid is reciprocal. The law of sowing and reaping is one of God’s most powerful barometers for determining how families will fare when faced with difficult situations. When any of us close our hand of mercy towards our fellow man, we set in motion the reciprocal action for our family to be denied its supply in their hour of need. It is better to err in the way of giving than to wake up one day and see our families suffering because of our lack of compassion when we saw someone in need and failed to act. Just because we call ourselves “Christians” does not obligate God to do anything for us. We must operate according to His established laws and rules for mercy, compassion, and giving.“

He that has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given.”2“He who despises (counts for nothing) his neighbor sins; but he who has mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.”3“For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.”4

We are continually sealing our own fate each time we do, or fail to do the right thing. Certainly I have missed the LORD many times, yet my heart is to do what is right all of the time, even if I am defrauded. Since God can see the heart, then He can easily replace any funds I am out or replace the time I have spent. We should never devise a method of helping people based solely on the ones who have defrauded us. The Bible says, “Yahushua (Jesus) was moved by compassion.”5When a person has a compassionate heart or the heart of a Samaritan, he or she will see a need before them and be moved to action. We should be moved in the same way.
