Chapter 75

An Oasis in The Ozarks

Just as the day came for us to leave the gulf Coast of Mississippi to embark upon a journey at the leading of the Lord, so the day came when we knew that our expedition was over in Kansas, and we were released to leave.

A little spiritual insight here is appropriate. In a walk in the spirit-led life, a servant of our Lord will see that satan will oppose him every step of the way. When we were leaving the Coast, we went through major battles in order to overcome the devil’s resistance for us to leave. Then once we had arrived at the destination god had chosen, there was warfare that could only be overcome with prayer and fasting in order to secure a place to live and gainful employment.

As the time came for us to leave Kansas, satan again opposed us every step of the way. I know that the devil does not care anything about my family in particular. The devil hates the Word of god, and he hates the revelation of god’s Word to His servants. He opposes the Word of god. In essence, if god reveals to a person to do something, the devil wants to cause that revelation to fail so that the servant can be dissuaded in continuing in the walk with god. The more a person desires to walk in the revelation of God, the more battles he/she will have to endure. so, as it came time to leave Lawson, after god revealed that our work there was complete, then again, satan opposed us. We had to win our battles through prayer and fasting in order to overcome all of the obstacles he was throwing in our path.

Through much prayer, fasting, and confirmation, we moved our family to Branson, Missouri. Janie sent her resume ahead and was hired by a local Radio network that represented nine radio stations. When I arrived, I secured a position at the elementary school. All of our children attended public schools, and Kellie attended a special class at Branson HIgh school where our oldest son Chris also attended. We, at the time, were not sure of the reason we went to Branson, but as we looked back, we realized that it was to be a time of rest. We stayed there for about six months and simply rested from the events we experienced in Lawson. We were quite stretched from the ordeal in Lawson. It was amazing to me how people in Lawson thought that we came to Lawson for healing. We received far more wounds in Lawson than in any other place we have ever lived. Not just from the church, but also from all the things the Lord allowed us to go through in the coffeehouse.

Branson was indeed a place of refuge. We were able to see almost all of the Branson shows for free, twice. Janie’s radio advertising sales position afforded us many comp tickets, and previews. We tried not to miss any opportunity to take in a show. Taking our family to enjoy the Branson shows helped us to get away for a while mentally and physically; kick-back, and have a rest from the stressful lifestyle we had left in Lawson. Before leaving Branson, Janie remembered that she had received a personal prophesy at a women’s seminar in Kansas a year earlier that said god would be sending us for a time to an “oasis” to receive rest. That word certainly had come true.
