CHARITY

Rich men spend a lot of money, but some of them also give a lot of money to charity. Is that a prestige or a real wish of those people? Let’s find out.

In 2006 Steven Cohen gave $5.000.000 to charity. Making a pediatric center. Henry Kravis raised $100.000.000 with his wife. But the winner in this area is Paul Tudor Jones. He founded in 1988 a charity organization called “Robin Hood Foundation”.

This is their mission:

“Since 1988 Robin Hood has targeted poverty in New York City by supporting and developing organizations that provide direct services to poor New Yorkers as well as improving their earning power and long-term prospects. Robin Hood provides program grants, general operating support, capital grants, and funds to build management capacity. “

The Foundation raised $80.7 million at its annual gala Monday night, including $25 million from two anonymous donors. The total haul was up 33% from the $59 million generated last year, and is a staggering increase of 72% from 2011, when the gala raised $47 million. Last record was $71 million.

Charity foundations made people that really wanted to help people. But over years it becomes cool to give money. Basically it that way you show to all the others that you have a lot of money…So I don’t believe that this charity are coming truly from the bottom of the heart. But it is important that they are helpful.
