Mistake Eight
Planning to cheat
You’d think keeping a strict diet from Monday to Friday entitles you to slack off on the weekend. But for successful and sustained weight loss, your goal should be to condition your body to eat healthily at all times, and not just on certain days of the week. Slip-ups happen, so don’t deliberately schedule for them. Besides, you can do quite a lot of damage in just one cheat day: Down a plate of Nasi goring, an egg prata, a curry puff, a slice of cheesecake, a chocolate éclair, durian pudding and a latte at a buff et and that’s easily 2,000 calories in one sitting!
It’s okay to give in to cravings when they strike — just not regularly. Take a few bites of that irresistible cheesecake right after a meal and share the rest with someone else instead of waiting till mid-afternoon when you’re hungrier and likelier to polish off the whole slice. That way, you won’t feel so deprived that you have to binge on the weekend.
