Terrified

Another night packed full of dreams

Hard as I might try, there are no screams

Stalked by something with a shadowy face

Terrifying thoughts begin to race

{}

Suddenly convinced I will be dead

As the dark figure climbs in my bed

Faster and faster my heart pounds

Still unable to emit any sounds

{}

Shaking, I awaken soaked in sweat

Not really sure if I’m awake yet

I am paralyzed with fear

Certain this time the end is near

{}

I finally decide the nightmare ends

Still a chill the memory sends

Aware that with return to sleep

Repetition of the cycle will keep

{}

Replaying again inside my head

Sleep is now something to dread

I fight fiercely until exhaustion wins

Until it starts all over again
