Ode to Disability
I write you, Disability
You took from me agility
But that is not the whole picture
In many ways I am richer
My old life you did desecrate
But better one you did create
What was a bad situation
Gave me much appreciation
Who would have thought that dreadful day
That you would make me feel this way?
Yes, for a while I lost my hope
Then I developed ways to cope
Disability while tragic
Possesses a certain magic
Of meaningless existence, free
Never thought that would truly be
You cut me free just like a knife
Giving me new and better life
I thank you for the chance to be
A new, improved and stronger me
