What Are Soft Tissue Sarcomas?
Soft tissue sarcomas are a cancer that can develop in almost every part of the part of body. Unlike major cancer which work in a particular area, sarcomas are rare in that they can grow in your fat, muscles, bloody vessels and any other soft tissue in the body.
It is quite a rare form of cancer and 3,270 people are diagnosed every year as having it. Roughly 40% of people who get it are over the age of 65, while 10% are under the age of 30. Half of that are under the age of 4 and suffer from a very specific type of soft tissue sarcoma called rhabdomyosarcoma.
Symptoms of soft tissue sarcomas can include: a painless lumps that grows over time (over 5cm), a tender lump or a lump that has reappeared after being surgically removed. They can be notable for the simple fact that any growth on the body indicative of a sarcoma will always look out of place.
