Book Description

This work is intended to present an overview of the Hindu rites of passage in a historical perspective. Based on the data put together from the works of P.V. Kane, Rajbali Pandey, Ram Gopal, Willem Caland, Jan Gonda and other eminent scholars as well as the ancient and medieval texts, a humble effort has been made to bring forward an outline of the history of the performance of the life cycle rites of passage by the Hindus in South Asia since the time immemorial.
