Chapter 17

Horror In The Mountains

A family had been planning a trip up their cabin in the mountains, they had been planning it months, they waited until the kids were out for Christmas vacation, they packed their bags, packed their R.V., and got onto the road. It was about an eight-hour drive to their cabin in the mountains which lied in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. The kids had been waiting all year to go and they were looking forward to snow tubing and snowboarding, they even saved up birthday, allowance, and Christmas money to buy new snowboards. The kids hated the long drive but at least they could sleep and they had their phones and tablets to keep them occupied and they watch movies. The Wichita family had been driving all day with food stops and rest stops in between; they reached the road that led them to their cabin in the mountains. The drive through the mountains had been beautiful, freshly falling snow laid on the ground, the trees were dusted making it look like a winter wonderland. All of a sudden, the R.V. began making weird noises and completely stopped. Mr. Wichita cursed. “Aww, damn it, son of a bitch, this stupid ass piece of shit.

Calm down honey, Mrs. Wichita implied. Ok, sweetie. I just had this thing serviced before we left and put gas in it. “ Mr. Wichita pulled to the side of the road and parked his monster of an R.V. the kids who had been sleeping woke and began looking around. “Mom, what’s going on? The older boy asked. Our R.V. stalled out.” His mother answered. The family grabbed their coats and began hiking to the mountains to the cabin, it had only been a ten-minute walk. The family made it to the cabin just before sunset. The Wichita family set down their luggage and Mr. Wichita unlocked the door and the family went in. They looked around at the furnished cabin, home for a week. Mr. Wichita had to figure out a way to get the R.V. to a repair shop to be fixed. The plan was to get a good night’s sleep and go call a repair shop in the morning. The family searched the freezer for food and there had been a couple of frozen pizzas and Mrs. Wichita pre-heated the oven. The kids got situated in their rooms and were unpacking. The oven was preheated and Mrs. Wichita put the pizza into the oven and hit the timer for twenty minutes. The parents were in their room unpacking, after a long drive Mr. Wichita had fallen asleep on the couch. The timer had gone off the pizza was ready so the mother pulled out the pizza and let it rest before cutting it. When it was ready and sliced, she called her boys in to eat, the kids scarfed down dinner and they each had to shower then settled into their rooms to watch a movie. The parents had settled into bed. The next morning the father awoke early and began calling tow truck companies so he could get his R.V. towed to a repair shop, finally after the third company he called one of the agreed to drive out and meet him on the road where he had stalled out. He kissed and hugged his family goodbye. He walked down the steep mountain road and waited inside his camper, he turned the key and went inside and waited. It had been over two hours before the tow truck came, the man came out and attached the two ropes to the R.V. and Mr. Wichita got into the tow truck with the driver as they went into town. The father had been on the phone calling repair shops in the area and he’d found one close by in the next town over from where they were staying, he had asked the driver to drop him off there and the driver agreed, once the father and the tow truck arrived the driver unloaded the R.V. and the father paid him and left. The owner of the repair shop came out to greet the father and him and the owner pushed the R.V. into the open garage where the owner and his workers could work on it. The owner told the father it would take two days to work on it because they had to send out the missing parts, so the father agreed and decided to stay in a local motel, he had reserved a room and he paid for it and went up to it. He called his family and told him he’d be gone for two days because the R.V. would be worked on. Back at the cabin, the boys had been tubing down the hill while the brother was snowboarding. There in the trees, someone was watching them from a distance with binoculars. The mother had been inside doing laundry and some light cleaning. After a long day of playing outside the boys came in for some hot chocolate and some chill time.

The mother had been watching the news and the weather had come on. The weatherman announced that a huge snowstorm was coming through and that all the roads would be shut down and the storm would last for two days. The boys whined a bit because they would be stuck in the house. The mother advised them to stay where it was safe, the mother called her husband to warn him of the storm and to stay safe until he could get back to them. That night around ten it began to get extremely windy, and it began to snow. The kids and the mother had just made soup for dinner and made popcorn and settled in to watch a movie, outside there was a creepy man with an ax watching them. The mom and kids had fallen asleep on the couch, the creepy man with the ax jimmied the lock and broke, he snuck in and was walking around the house he saw the mom and kids on the couch. He took his ax raised it and the ax hit the mother in the head, then again in the chest. He then drags her into the storm and chopped off her legs and arms, chopped her head off then placed the bloody head on the front porch of the steps, he then proceeded to chop the torso in half then took the body parts and tied them in the trees. He went back into the house and killed the kids; the boys woke up to some stranger in the house and began to scream for their mom but she was nowhere in sight. The boys got to run, they ran into their parents’ room and locked the door, but the killer to his bloody ax and hacked down the door went into the closet where the boys were hiding and drug the boy out and forcefully grabbed him by his arm his head hit the headboard knocking him out, his head was dripping with blood the killer raised his ax and swung hitting the boy directly in the heart, he then drug the body outside where he chopped off the boy’s arms and legs, hacked off his head, then cut off his torso and hung his body parts in the tree as he did the mother and then placed the bloody head onto the porch next to the mother’s. The brother who was hiding in the house still had been hiding in the basement of the house was desperately trying to find a way out, he grabbed his phone to text his father but because of the storm, he got no reception. He placed his phone into his pocket, still trying to find a way out, he found none he was trapped and he knew he was going to die. The killer came back looking for the boy, he searched every room of the house, he thought of the basement; he opened the door his work boots sounded heavy as he clonked down the steps one by one. The boy had been hiding behind some old boxes and wood. The killer smelled the air as if he could smell the child’s fear, he went towards where the child was hiding reached his hand down reached for the kid’s collar, and yanked him out, the kid reached down and grabbed a wooden board and he swung at the killer he hit the killer in the head causing him to drop the boy; the boy got up and ran up the basement steps as fast as he could he ran outside he saw his mother and brother and screamed. The killer who was only dazed was now pissed and, on a rampage, and ready to kill the boy. The killer who stomped up those steps followed the child outside but he was nowhere in sight, the boy was halfway down the steep road trying to get to safety the killer was close behind him, he followed him hiding behind trees waiting to jump out the kid for a sneak attack. “HELP” HELP” The boy yelled into the storm. No one could hear him over the wind, and since the storm the roads had shut down which meant no cars and no people. He was done and he knew it, his fate was sealed. If the killer would get him, he would die of hypothermia and freeze to death. Just when the boy thought it was safe the killer jumped out swung his ax and hit the kid in the stomach, the boy fell to the ground and bled to death in the snow, his father took the ax and chopped his arms and legs, cut off his head took all the body parts to the cabin and hung them in the trees and placed his head next to the mother and brother. Two days later after the storm was over the father who had been trying to get in touch with the family who was sick with worry when they didn’t answer their phones drove back to the cabin in the R.V. He drove up to the cabin and saw the horrific scene, he saw his family and broke down and cried, after leaving the cabin the father was driving home when a tow truck came from out of nowhere and T-Boned him killing him instantly. Two weeks prior there had been a string of murders and campers who stayed here at this very cabin were murdered in the same way the Wichita family was. There had been a murderer who broke free from prison and came up to the mountains he had been responsible for over three hundred murders, the killer was never caught and now lives in the mountains somewhere. Locals of the Pocono Mountains say the killer was the tow driver.
