Paintings "
In the summer of 2010, during a brief visit to Amsterdam, I had the chance to see in the Rijksmuseum original artworks of Dutch Masters that I always admired. When I came back to my studio, I started to work on the oil paintings with renewed energy and inspiration.
In some compositions I used my figure behind a mask facing to the audience, while in others I have kept away my eyes from the viewer as a self-portrait. The objects have symbolic meanings and they are related with the Latin proverbs. For example, the butterfly in “Ars Longa vita brevis” painting represents “vita brevis,” which means “life is short,” and the apple in “Sapiente est potentia” represents “Sapientia” which is wisdom.
The hand figure in the small-sized paintings is coming out from an abstract dimension and holding the beads which grouped form the Latin proverbs.
2010 yazında Amsterdam’a yaptığım kısa süreli bir ziyaret sırasında çok beğendiğim Hollanda’lı ressam ustaların orijinal eserlerini Rijksmuseum’da yakından inceleme fırsatım oldu. Atölyeme döndüğümde bu geziden aldığım enerji ve ilham ile yağlıboya çalışmalarına başladım.

Bazı resimlerdeki kompozisyonlarda izleyiciye bir maskenin arkasından bakan, bazılarında ise gözlerimi izleyiciden uzak tuttuğum oto portreler kullandım. Resimlerdeki objeler de özlü sözlere bir gönderme, yani sembolik anlamlar oluşturuyor. drneğin, “Ars longa vita brevis” resmindeki kelebek; hayat kısa anlamındaki “vita brevis” ile, “Sapiente est potentia” resmindeki elma, bilgelik anlamındaki “Sapientia” ile denkleşmektedir.
Küçük ebatlı resimlerdeki el figürü soyut bir boyuttan çıkarak ipe dizilmiş Latin özlü sözlerini tutuyor.
