Abstract:

In this cycle of twenty eight lectures devoted to the introduction to law, there are discussed such issues as: a) principal philosophies of law, b) features and methods of law together with the determination of the place which law occupies amongst other sciences, c) divisions of juridical sciences, d) sources of law and species of law, e) kinds and scopes of bidingness of law, f) the notion of a legal norm and of a legal article, g) kinds of legal norms (articles), h) the concept of legal system and its basic attributes, i) application of law, j) law-making, k) legislative process in Poland and in the European Union, l) structure and hierarchy of legal acts, m) issues concerning judicial precedents, n) directives of legal interpretation (construction), o) legal inferences, p) materials used for the sake of interpretation of canonical texts, q) rules of collision, r) types of gaps and contradictions in law, s) branches of law, t) the European Union law and the international law, u) internal law, w) methods of alternative dispute resolution, x) the idea of legal relationship and sorts of legal facts, y) kinds of proves and burden of proof and burden of argumentation, z) Latin adages commonly appealed to in law.

Moreover, such peculiar topics as kinds of human reasoning that are employed be people in reality (intuitive and rational), the applying of legal institutions in practice and ideal figures of judges in the persons of a judge fighter and judge bureaucrat (‘official’) as well as some rules of conduct in judicial proceedings and relation of certainty and predictability of law to justices and flexibility of law have been presented here.

Additionally, the appendix provides the readers with information regarding the notion of the state, especially its definition, its kinds, outlooks on its genesis, ways of its understanding, its possible functions and forms of government as well as the shape of political structure of the Polish state and the European Union
