Nutrition

I have talked about all the different diet plans, the different types of fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates and more. It really boils down to a very simple concept: how many calories you eat during the day and how many of those calories you burn off during the day.

To give yourself the best chance of being successful, just control your calories.

When you are successful at controlling your calories then you will be losing weight.

Here is a brief outline:

 Find your target body mass index or your target weight.

 Determine the number of calories you need to maintain that weight. This is where you find your 500 calorie deficit.

 Eat the foods you need to stay at or below your target calorie consumption.

Remember to work into your nutritional plan your vitamins and minerals.

 Never skip a meal to reach your calorie intake level. Skipping a meal will adversely affect your metabolism and that is the last thing you want to do. If you missed your calories goal by 100 calories just work a little longer in your exercise time and burn them off. Just don't make a habit of missing your goals.

 Avoid saturated or trans-fats. These are the worst kinds of fats. These fats clog your arteries and make your heart work harder just to get the blood through your body.

Your diet and your exercise, coupled together, will determine how successful you will be in reaching your weight loss goals. You must eat a healthy, well balanced diet and although this might not be as flashy as a fad diet, a well-balanced nutritional plan coupled with exercise will over the long haul allow you to reach your long term weight loss goals. Don't rely on the quick fix of diet pills, you may lose weight but you have nothing to fall back on after the pills stop working.

Words of Wisdom:

To achieve long term weight loss, never equate the weight loss program you have

chosen with a diet. It is so much more than just reducing calories, it is a life style

change that you will have for the rest of your life.
