The key to the success of Michael Dell’s business model is selling directly to customers. Dell eliminates the middleman by custom-building the IBM clones and selling them directly to consumers, thus reducing overhead costs and eliminating dealer mark-ups.

As a result, Dell’s customers know that they are getting a good deal relative to other computer sellers while at the same time Dell is making more profit per computer sale than any of its rivals. While also delivering their award winning customer support, continuing their quest for improving "the Customer Experience"
